How the Product’s Digital Identity is Created

The Technology Enabling Digital Traceability

To make Filiera Trasparente possible, a technological infrastructure is required that connects the physical world of production with the digital world of data.

The Machine

This machine represents the core of digital traceability for food products. Its role is to ensure that each individual package is uniquely and verifiably identified, without interrupting production continuity.

How it Works

Alignment and Preliminary Control

A first vision camera precisely identifies the printing area on the package.

Marking

The system prints a unique GS1 Digital Link QR Code, generated by Antares Vision software.

Verification and Validation

A second camera checks the position and readability of the code.

Automatic Rejection

In case of non-compliance, the product is removed without stopping the production line.

Activation

The validated code is activated and the package is ready for the market.

Diamind Connect Platform

The Traceability Platform for Agri-Food Supply Chains

Cultivation and Harvesting

Processing and Packaging

Production Data Normalization

Communication with the Final Consumer

An integrated rules engine enables dynamic information pathways, transforming traceability into an active communication channel. The platform also supports Data Space logic, enabling secure and controlled data exchange among all supply chain actors.

THE PROJECT

The Transparent Rice Supply Chain

From Research to Product on the Shelf

The project “The Transparent Rice Supply Chain” originated as a pilot use case within the National Agritech Centre and represents a concrete example of technology transfer, where research on advanced digital traceability of the rice supply chain has been translated into a real, industrialized solution now available on the market. From the field to the package, all the way to the final consumer. We make transparent, verifiable, and accessible all the information describing the journey of rice. The project was developed in collaboration with partners RURALL, DIAGRAM Group, and BF Agroindustriale, who contributed to the implementation of the use case. The brand Le Stagioni d’Italia, part of the BF Group, believed in the value of the initiative, enabling the project to evolve from a case study into a concrete industrial solution, now available on retail shelves.

The Serialized QR Code: Each Package Is Unique

Each package is marked in-line with a unique QR Code compliant with the GS1 Digital Link standard, connected to the real data of the product it contains. By scanning the code, the consumer can:

View the fields of origin of the rice contained in each specific package, displayed in a geolocated format

Access information about sustainability and supply chain values

Learn about the processing phases

Experience the story that the producer tells for that specific rice package, based on the real data of its supply chain

Packaging thus becomes an active information channel, establishing a direct and transparent dialogue between producer and consumer.

An Infrastructure for the Future of Supply Chains

This sequence ensures that every product placed into the supply chain is traceable, compliant, and reliable, protecting both industry and consumers.
